NO 1 DATE 2011-10-10 HIT 1603
- Construction of a state-of-the-art bulk carrier (180,000 DWT) after overcoming the labor strike / naming ceremony held
- Concentration on saving Yeongdo Dockyard by bringing all employees and suppliers into the process

On January 4, 2011, HHIC held a naming ceremony for the 180,000-DWT bulk carrier ¡®CHRISTINA BULKER¡¯ at Yeongdo Dockyard with the attendance of about 30 people including officials from Lauritzen.
HHIC won the bid to build this capesize (180,000 DWT) bulk carrier in 2008. In fact, it is the first ship built under the Performance Standard for Protective Coatings (PSPC). The PSPC is a new international regulation set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to prevent marine pollution from corrosion of ships and marine accidents.
Despite the recent labor strike, all employees and suppliers have put all their energy into building this ship (ex: test operation, coating, etc.) in order to save Yeongdo Dockyard.
An official from HHIC said, ¡°There have been some difficulties in building the ship because of the labor strike. However, all our employees and suppliers have made their best efforts to build this ship and save the company.¡± He added, ¡°We are definitely going to bounce back and play a leading role again in the shipbuilding industry by enhancing our competitiveness.¡±
